Art-rockers/punkers, Pacific Blush are set to release their much-anticipated eponymous third album, "Pacific Blush", on tonight, November 16, 2010. It contains eight new songs spanning over thirty minutes, with a whole new sound that has progressed to something more accessible, and more pop-ish than the more experimental previous outings, Fashion Chrysalis and Skeletal Gardens.
The album is highly influenced by a live show the lead singer/drummer saw of beach house this past summer, as well as the likes of Deerhunter, Animal Collective, No Age, and even the indie-rock gods, Pavement. However, the new release still embodies some of Pacific Blush’s familiar trademarks of experimentation but with a new-found emphasis on melody and harmony, which only adds to their music’s hypnotic pull on listeners. Pacific Blush is somewhat of a concept album, chronicling a fictional relationship over its eight songs. It's also the first Pacific Blush release with the new, improved, line-up: Matt Marcure on drums/percussion/vox and Jarod Quiring on (awesome) guitar. The album also features Kyte Lockett on guitar and bass on the songs, "Mosaic" and "Overglow," and Joseph Marcure on bass for the song "Daydreamers."
The album is available to download at this location, which you can also get to if you click on the album art. While you're listening to the music and waiting for your download, check out the track-listing and back cover below. And maybe consider donating? It would be much appreciated!
